The Break Up.

Top 10 starting break up lines

  1. We need to talk.
  2. It's not your fault. It's me.
  3. I've lied.
  4. Do you remember when I’ve said everything is alright?
  5. You are like a sister/brother to me.
  6. I think we would be better off friends.
  7. I don't love you any more.
  8. Do you really want to know why I go out to dinner with my assistant?
  9. Have you always been so boring?
  10. Give me back my keys.

It's time to break up if you have...

  1. An abusive relationship. If you are in an abusive relationship, get out now! It doesn't matter if you 'think' you are still in love with him (or her) or 'know' you are in love with her. Get out now, and after, file a police report for a restraining order.
  2. No trust. Trust is the most important part in any relationship, so if you don't have it, it's time to break up.
  3. Found someone else. Although not always on purpose, sometimes we find another person -- perhaps a friend or colleague who we are interested in. If this is you, talk about it. Usually, interest in someone else means you aren't getting everything you want out of your current relationship. If talking about it doesn't help, it's time to break up and start something new.
  4. Loss of interest. Many couples lose interest in their partner, not only sexually, but also as a friend. If you cannot talk to your significant other, it is definitely time to break up.
  5. No future together. Relationships without a future is a train-wreck waiting to happen. If you want to be friends with benefits, fine. Be friends with benefits. However, if you want a real relationship but don't have a future together, get out now.

Break Up Rules

  1. Do not avoid the subject. It's best to get it over with as soon as possible. The longer you wait the harder it will get.
  2. Remain calm. You don't want to stir up mixed emotions or send mixed signals. It could only make it worse.
  3. Talk about it. It's always best to state your opinion on why you want to break up. This is so your 'someone' (soon to be ex.) will not question it and think there may still be something between you. Try not to blame each other, it only makes things worse and may cause aggressiveness.
  4. It's always best to do it in person, unless of course this person is abusive by any means. Then it's best to either call or write a letter, even better, have a friend tell the person. It's a horrible way to break up, but if it's a last resort, do it.
  5. After the break up, do not go back -- no matter what. You broke up for a reason, remember it. You might think this person has changed, but they truly haven't. People do not change over short periods –- no matter how convincing that person might be.

Signs of a possible break up

Avoidance
One of the many signs, but the strongest, is avoidance. If your boyfriend or girlfriend isn't answering your calls or never home when they usually are, there is a possibility of a pending break up.

Acting differently
Another possible sign of a break up, is a change in personality. If your partner normally acts one way, but all of the sudden changes, there is a problem. As well, if your partner begins showing less interest or paying more attention to others, there's a chance.

Ways to avoid a break up

Some relationships are meant to be broken, otherwise we would never find the right person to be with for the rest of our lives. However, sometimes we feel we must stay with someone for at least a little longer.

Find out what is wrong
The first step to avoiding a break up is ask what is wrong. Talk to your partner to find the problem and ask how it can be fixed, that is if you don't know already.

Talk about the future
The next step may seem awkward, but if you wish the relationship to continue it's essential. However, you must find out exactly what your partner wants of the relationship and find out how it may be accomplished.

Make it work
Finally, make it work. If there is anything you can change and still want to be with this person, do it. Actions speak more than words. Show your partner how you truly feel. Who knows, maybe he/she wants the same thing you do.

Dealing with a break up.

Many people deal with break ups in a variety of ways. Some believe it's best to get right back on the saddle, while others disagree and wait a short (or long) period before getting back into the game.

The main considerations are your comfort level, how serious the relationship was and how bad was the break up. Of course, if you are reading this article you must be having a hard time and still hold a broken heart – no matter how serious the relationship was.

Just remember, you will survive.

Keeping your cool in time of crisis is 90% of the battle. If you can keep calm, everything will be OK – and if not, call a good friend and tell him or her all about it. They will understand. The more days that pass the easier it will get, so no crazy stuff, comprende?
